Spring Break!

March 30, 2015

We thought it would be fun to feature different authors and gather their interesting and wild stories about spring break!

I’m thrilled to host author Nazarea Andrews here today to tell you about her own personal spring break and share a little info on her books! Take it away!

Wild Spring Break by Nazarea Andrews

So when I was 19, I was in my freshman year of college. I went to a tiny private Christian liberal arts school in the mountains of Tennessee, and I worked as a waitress at a locally owned little restaurant. Home was in mid-Michigan, a good twelve hour drive. And being me, I decided that I should visit my cousin instead. So I packed up my little broke down car, and drove to the other side of Tennessee (btw, Tennessee is a long ass state. Not very wide but my goodness, when you drive it length wise.) And I spent a week with my cousin and her family, being spoiled by my uncle and aunt. One night, me and Aday snuck out of the house (I say sneak, we actually just left because come on. Everyone knew we were leaving.) and headed to downtown Memphis for a little bit of nightlife fun.
Well. Here’s the thing. When you take two introverts and drop them, even voluntarily, into a party scene—shenanigans happen. And not even the kind of shenanigans that are super fun. There was no wet tshirt contest—although Aday could win the hell outta that. There wasn’t even drinking, because we didn’t have fake IDs. So we wandered around town, watching the drunk people and dodging the especially friendly drunk people, and laughing at everything in general. And getting lost, until we finally made our way home.
And that was it. My wild crazy spring break.
I’m pretty sure my niece has had crazier, but I’m an underachiever when it comes to crazy. 😉

BOOK INFORMATION:

GIRL LOST by Nazarea Andrews

GIRLOST

BOOK SUMMARY:

Northern was supposed to be a fresh start—a place where people didn’t know who I was or how I had spent years in and out of mental institutes. People didn’t know about my parents death or the island no one heard of. But when Peter sits next to me in lit class, I can’t stop the memories, and I don’t want to. He looks too much like the boy from the island, and despite my best intentions, coaxes my secrets from me.

He’s gorgeous, irresistible, a little mad, and completely lost—we are a pair of broken cogs in a world neither of us truly fits into. And he listens when I talk, about the past and the terrifying future. He is somehow gentle and fierce, heartbreaking in his devotion and savage in his defense.

When Belle, his best friend, shows up, pale and lovely and sick, Peter pulls away from me, a startling withdrawal. It’s a relationship that scares and confuses me. She is at times warm and friendly, and other times is violent and unpredictable.

Peter says that he wants me, but refuses to let himself get close. And there are secrets, surrounding both of us, that border on nightmares. As the memories close in, as Belle gets sicker and more violent, I’m torn between what is true and what I believe, and what this magical boy knows about my mysterious past.
*Suitable for 17+. A romantic contemporary retelling of the boy who never grew up.
